Volleyball ROCKS!!

The girls have been playing super well! Last night they had a league game against Riverview and SMOKED them!! The made short of the 5 game match, taking it in 3 games, under 1 hour. Saturday they had traveled to Okanogan and came home with the 3rd place title, losing only to Colfax, who took 1st place. They are so fun to watch....and the best is yet to come!

The coach for Riverview was fun to watch...she was at her wits-end with her team. They couldn't do anything right.

This Week In Sports....

Don't have any really decent pictures to show this week in sports so words will have to do!

Tuesday: Volleyball Jamboree in Ki-Be. Ki-Be hosted, Connell, Mabton and Goldendale were the teams. Each team played each other best of 3. Connell came home with the First Place placque, Goldendale the Second Place placque. Connell played Ki-Be first, winning the first 2 easily. They played Mabton next, winning in 2 easily. The played Goldendale only 2 times, splitting with them. It was still enough to place first. They looked G-R-E-A-T!!! It is going to be an exciting season!!

Thursday: Connell Soccer Varsity girls lost to Othello, 0-1. It was a good game however. Marie made Varsity so it is going to be a fun season to watch. They aren't as quick or as aggressive as last years' team, but it is the beginning of the season, and they are a young team. Go Lady Eagles! Varsity Volleyball ROCKED!! They played Othello and swept them in 3. They looked AWESOME!! I am so excited for this season. Keep it up ladies!!

Friday: Chelan Goats came to town only to be headed back to Chelan once again, defeated by the Eagles! The final score was 35-7. Chelan has a good team and they had a couple of chances to put more on the board. It was well fought until the final blow of the whistle. Go Eagles!

Saturday: The Columbia Basin football team did much better this weekend than with their opener against Snow College a couple of weekends ago. They beat the Yakima team 21-0. There were a lot of penalties and plays called back, but it is early and they will get use to playing together more and more. Briar had a good game. He blocked a punt, broke up several pass plays and almost had an interception early in the game. I think he will have a fun year. Scott did great on the line and both Sean and Shane had a good game also. It is weird to see these boys in Blue and White instead of Purple and Gold! Go Hawks!!

Friday Night Lights

Friday was opening high school football night. And, what a night it was! Connell opened up with the Othello Huskies. There was no doubt. After the kickoff, it was Connell. The Eagles won 31-14. Everyone is waiting to see what this season will be like. On the tails of the State Championship, it will be fun to see if a repeat is in the cards.
