Weak stomachs....BEWARE!!!

Briar had an accident a couple of weeks ago......July 5th to be exact. He was tarping a trailer full of grass seed as a storm was coming through (one of our famous blow throughs: 100 m.p.h. wind, rain coming down horizontally, thunder, lightning, flash floods; 10minutes pass and the sun is out again in full force!!). To make a longer story short, a gust of wind came up, grabbing the tarp and causing a handle to come cascading down....cutting off the top of his middle right finger. Emergency Room lingo: amputataed finger. Kaylee found the actual cut off part of his finger but the doctors weren't into re-attatching it....time past, small veins, black dead limb...something to that effect!! Anyways, I have been wanting to post pictures and finally have some decent ones to show all the progress he has made over the past 3 weeks. Definitely NOT a "try this at home" situation!!

The day after it all happened:

Due to all the blood seeping through the bandage, we took off the outer layers (very carefully!!) and replaced them. This picture above is about as far as we went. The blood had hardened close to the top of the injury so we just left the first piece of gauze on. The pain seemed to big of an anticipation for that last piece to come off....fine with mom!!

This is a new wrap for the top after seeing the doctor on Friday the 10th. It is a special kind of gauze that has antibiotic ointment in it so we could help keep infection out of the area.

This is a side view...

A top view...

and another angle.

This was our superior wrap up job!!! {Friday pictures}

This picture and the next were taken on Monday the 13th. This picture cracks me up because the picture shows the 4th finger sticking up behind the amputated one, almost looking like a new fingertip has sprouted up!! LOL!!!! The doctor took out all of the nail bed so he won't be having a nail on this finger any more. Such is life!!

When he goes to the doctor tomorrow he will get the stitches out.

And THIS is what it looks like about 3 weeks later!! This picture was taken yesterday, the 26th. Looks good huh!!!

This side really looks good. Eventually the finger will loose that little bump on the side of the finger. You can really tell where the new skin has grown back from this shot. He peeled off the old dead skin a couple of days ago....that was pretty grose to watch!! He will have to get use to a lot of new things with it, mental things also. All-in-all I am thanking God that this is all that happened!! Could have been oh so much worse!! THANK YOU ALL for the recovery prayers!! It will be interesting to see how things progress in the coming months....he is hoping that football is still in the near future!!!
